- In South Africa, honorable SABC Morning Live host Vuyo Mbuli passed away in Bloemfontein, on May 19, 2013. It happen after he collasped while watching a rugby match between the Cheetahs and Reds at the Free State Stadium. The cause of death in unidentified. Mubli first started out in television in 1993, as a continuity presenter. He later joined Morning Live on its inception on November 1, 1999. He also worked in radio on SAfm, since 1995. A funeral for Mbuli took place on May 24, 2013, in Houghton. Mbuli will be missed. As a person in America, I want to thank Vuyo Mbuli, for entertaining and inspiring the people of South Africa, during your times at SABC.

- In Greece, without any warning, the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT) was shut down on June 11, 2013, at 11:00 PM in Athens. 2,656 employees of the broadcaster were fired, but have been protesting outside the ERT headquarters. The live broadcast is online. This was announced by the government. They also said ERT was a "haven of waste". They plan to establish a new broadcaster, with few employees. The European Broadcasting Union expressed its sympathy, saying it was poor censorship. They are currently providing the live stream of the ERT. The ERT has been in operation since 1938.
- Στην Ελλάδα, χωρίς καμία προειδοποίηση, η Ελληνική Ραδιοφωνία Τηλεόραση (ΕΡΤ) έκλεισε στις 11 Ιουνίου 2013, στις 11:00 μ.μ. στην Αθήνα. 2.656 εργαζόμενοι του ραδιοτηλεοπτικού απολύθηκαν, αλλά διαμαρτύρονται έξω από το κεντρικά γραφεία της ΕΡΤ. Η ζωντανή μετάδοση είναι σε απευθείας σύνδεση. Αυτό ανακοινώθηκε από την κυβέρνηση. Είπαν επίσης ΕΡΤ ήταν ένα «καταφύγιο των αποβλήτων». Σχεδιάζουν να δημιουργήσουν ένα νέο ραδιοτηλεοπτικό φορέα, με λίγους υπαλλήλους. Η Ευρωπαϊκή Ραδιοτηλεοπτική Ένωση εξέφρασε τη συμπάθειά του, λέγοντας ότι ήταν κακή λογοκρισία. Πρόκειται για την παροχή επί του παρόντος "ζωντανά" της ΕΡΤ. Η ΕΡΤ έχει τεθεί σε λειτουργία από το 1938.
